You are the greatest Miracle

Last week I got to get away with my husband and just relax and play, just the two of us, it was wonderful!! It is always a good thing to take a break from the normal every day and feed your soul in different ways. We went on long walks in the desert and had a greater appreciation for the beauty that the desert holds. We ate yummy food, relaxed and just talked. We took a morning and did an exercise I would highly recommend to anyone in a relationship—we wrote a eulogy for one another. We called it a ‘Life Eulogy.’ We imagined if something tragic had happened and our life was changed forever what we would say to the other person, about the other person, what we would want others to know, but especially every little detail of what we loved about our life together. This was a great exercise in getting grateful for one another on an even deeper level. It truly made us evaluate what we would miss in one another, what we valued about our relationship and the deep feelings of friendship and love we share. TAKE THE TIME—it is worth it!!

We also spent the trip reading Og Mandino’s, The Greatest Miracle in the World. For some reason this book made me cry deeply with emotion and I knew I needed to make a movie that held some of the beauty this book holds. Here is the movie. Please take the time to watch, read and take in the meaning that is YOU…the greatest miracle in the world. It has beautiful sentiments and thought provoking meaning to who you truly are. I hope you enjoy it and it touches you in some way.

Peace to you.  -Heather

Lessons learned from the movie Winter’s Tale & Og Mandino

I just saw the movie, Winter’s Tale, which I tried to explain to my father this morning and came up with Love Story, Good and Evil, Miracles, Destiny and beautiful sentiments throughout. I am a true romantic at heart so the first moments of the movie talking about stars and miracles of light moved me.

Last week I went away with my husband and during our long drive to our destination we read Og Mandino’s “The Greatest Miracle in the World.” It was a beautiful book that touched me to my core, that reminded me of the blessed gifts we are given each day & that we are one in millions, like stars in the sky, we light up the world, we touch one another without a thought and we were created to be connected in ways we may never understand.

For some reason between that book and this movie I came away feeling a greater sense of knowing the expanse of who we are, that we truly are miracles and we are meant to be used, have a purpose, and continue to hold on to hope and faith and love in ways that are unimaginable. There is such beauty in that very thought.

Today, I wanted to give you some gifts of verse from these very places and hope that these words may touch you in some way and remind you of who you are and the blessed gifts you hold.

“No one ever said that you would live to see the repercussions of everything you do, or that you have guarantees, or that you are not obliged to wander in the dark, or that everything will be proved to you and neatly verified like something in science. Nothing is: at least nothing that is worthwhile. I didn’t bring you up only to move across sure ground. I didn’t teach you to think that everything must be within our control or understanding. Did I? For, if I did, I was wrong. I fyou won’t take a chance, then the powers you refuse because you cannot explain them, will, as they say, make a monkey out of you.”

“You can’t expect anyone to trust revelation if he hasn’t experienced it himself. Those who haven’t only know reason. And since revelation is a thing apart, and cannot be accounted for reasonably, they never will believe you. This is the great division of the world and always has been. When reason and revelation run together, why, then you have something great, a great age.”

“Consider a painting by Rembrandt or a bronze by Degas or a violin by Stradivarius or a play by Shakespeare.  They have great value for two reasons:  their creators were masters and they are few in number.  Yet there are more than one of each of these.
On that reasoning you are the most valuable treasure on the face of the earth, for you know who created you and there is only one of you.
Never, in all of the seventy billion humans who have walked this planet since the beginning of time has there been anyone exactly like you.
Never, until the end of time, will there be another such as you.
You have shown no knowledge or appreciation of your uniqueness.
Yet, you are the rarest thing in the world.”
― Og MandinoThe Greatest Miracle in World

Image“Most humans, in varying degrees, are already dead. In one way or another they have lost their dreams, their ambitions, their desire for a better life. They have surrendered their fight for self-esteem and they have compromised their great potential. They have settled for a life of mediocrity, days of despair and nights of tears. They are no more than living deaths confined to cemeteries of their choice. Yet they need not remain in that state. They can be resurrected from their sorry condition. They can each perform the greatest miracle in the world. They can each come back from the dead…”

Valentines is that time of year when we want to show those we love little ways in which we care. Over the years I have done messages in a bottle, hung stars all over our bedroom, made photo books, love tokens, an antique cap gun, gifted his “favorite” things….so it is becoming more and more challenging to be a little more creative in my love giving.

I am going to search and scour for some of my favorites to share with you:

ImageFortune of LOVE: I did like this cute fortune cookie that comes with a book of fortunes you can change out. Here is the link. I thought you could randomly hide it and have your spouse, kids, friends find them & give them a little love boost!!  Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Love-Fortune-Cookie-Romantic/dp/0762433264/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1391439698&sr=8-4&keywords=silver+fortune+cookie

ImageLove Chain: You could make a chain of hearts and write reasons you love them.

ImageLove You More: My husband and I Love throwing this saying at each other, so last year he gave me this bracelet & I loved it.

ImageCard Deck of Love: I thought this was a unique, fun idea. Include the many things you love card by card & then bind them together. You could also turn this into a “Deck of Date Night” ideas. This would be fun if you never know what to do–flip a card & do it!!

ImageCreative, Personalized Card: Making cards for someone is always fun when you can add a little creativity and originality. I have made cards with magazine cutouts, done hearts in tissue paper, made photo cards, etched sentiments on a frame, get creative and make it memorable.  I also thought the look of the below book page with a nice note is a sweet idea. You could get a old book & write different sentiments on various pages or add images, etc.

Silver-plated Love Token: everything is sweet when it is silver plated. You could give him this love token to carry around, put on his desk and remember the love you have for him. You could do it like a gratitude rock. Give him/her this heart & have them carry it in their pocket every day & every time they touch it have him/her think of something he/she is grateful for in your relationship.  Here is a link to some similar ideas: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Life-Love-Token-Pre-Order/dp/B00CP6ED1E/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_10

ImageSomething Sexy: Came across this book that sounded fun & good for any sex life. You could get your own beads to accompany this book & make it your own. If you need something to shake things up — this might be a good thing!!

Some other ideas: Take a sexy pic of yourself, Make a special dinner together, write a love note and put it in the mailbox, make them their favorite dessert, make a sentimental collage of pics that show your entire relationship together, make a special mix cd or play list that has songs that are special to the two of you, give each other a special dare, play your own version of “Would you rather,” write them a note that includes some foreign love languages [ie: jetaime], make them a special note or picture that says “Today I have loved you for …..days,” have a special evening where you write down fun memories, special date moments & create your own book of love.

Well, I hope these ideas will help you create something wonderful and give your special valentine a much needed wish of LOVE.
